Our bootmakers have always been the lifeblood of our survival. Hand-welting and hand-lasting a boot requires both skill and strength. Some of the best bootmakers in our history have done it for several decades. If not for their dedication to the craft, the ‘White Boot’ would have been buried in the history of American shoe manufacturers who shut their doors in the 20th Century.
HONORING THE LEGACY OF THE WHITE’S BOOTMAKER
In honor of these bootmakers, and the years of hard work it took to keep us on the map, we’re launching a limited number of the Bootmaker Graphic Tee—handmade, and hand-printed in the USA. Holding true to our commitment to American manufacturing, we partnered with two local companies: Columbiaknit and Giant Guerilla, who share in our dedication to enduring quality.
ColumbiaKnit, located in Portland, OR, has been providing knitwear—jackets, sweatshirts, rugby shirts, t-shirts, and hats—since 1921. Their preshrunk, heavyweight t-shirts are woven on historic knitting machines and hand-cut and hand-sewn in their local factory. It means their garments can take a beating, and their famous rugby shirt is still around to prove it.
Giant Guerilla, a one-man screen printing shop in Spokane, WA, uses traditional techniques to hand-print his t-shirts one at a time—a process that gives way to an authentic fade for years to come. As most companies opt for a more automated process, printing t-shirts by hand produces an authentic look and feel against the weight of the fabric, especially on heavyweight cotton. The result is a durable t-shirt that comes to you by way of skilled hands at every stage of the manufacturing process, just like our boots.
