Otto was convinced that nothing short of a fully customized fit could meet the harsh demands of a day spent cutting fire line, climbing electrical poles, or bucking logs, and we think he was right. That’s why we continue to do things Otto’s way: by hand.
So you’re preparing to order your first pair of White’s – congratulations, and welcome to the family! You are about to realize what generations of footsore wanderers have found: there is no boot more comfortable than a pair of White’s.
The first part of your journey toward comfort is over! The second and most important, however, is about to begin: we need to determine your size. Most customers are a half size down from their natural shoe size. Were you to walk into our showroom in Spokane, we would have an expert size you up, but never fear! We’ve developed a process for getting you the same time-honored results right here online; simply follow the instructions below.
Step 1 Get Your Foot Length
To accurately measure your feet, you’ll need a sheet of white paper, a pen, and a tailor’s tape. You cannot measure your foot accurately without the help of another person. So go grab someone, anyone. This won’t take long!
Begin with your right foot. Wearing your boot socks, stand on a sheet of paper, distributing your weight evenly on both feet.
Have your helper trace carefully around your foot, creating a single, clean outline. Be sure to hold the pencil straight up and down to avoid inaccurate measurements.
Using a tape measure, measure the length of the tracing in inches from heel to toe. Repeat Step 1 with the left foot. **DO NOT measure your actual foot.
Enter your foot length measurement to determine your correct boot size. If you do not have measurements, need help getting measurements, or need more information on custom fitting and sizing, see details below.
Step 2 Get Your Foot Width
Sit down and cross your legs one over the other. This allows the foot being measured to be fully relaxed in its resting posture. Measure both feet using this method. For each measurement, pull the tape tight and then release it slightly so that it is snug, but not constricting.
The Ball
Measurement should be taken from the top of your big toe joint diagonally backward over the top of the pinky toe joint.
